How to Disconnect a Bank Account from Frank (do it with caution)

Instructions for disconnecting or removing a bank account from Frank, including what happens to your transaction history.

If you need to remove a bank account from Frank, you can do it from the Banking page. Before you proceed, please note that disconnecting permanently deletes all transaction history for that account.

How to disconnect a bank account

  1. Navigate to Banking in the left sidebar.

  2. Find the account or card you want to remove.

  3. Click the three-dot menu (โ‹ฎ) in the top-right corner of that account's card.

  4. Select Remove Account from the dropdown.

  5. Confirm the removal when prompted.

What happens to your transaction data

Disconnecting an account permanently deletes all associated data from Frank. This includes:

  • All transaction records imported from that account

  • Any categories or tags you applied to those transactions

  • Rules that apply to transactions from that account

  • Balance history for that account

This cannot be undone. Export or record anything you need before proceeding.

Before you disconnect

  • Document your rules. Any rules tied to this account will be deleted. Note them down if you want to recreate them later.

  • Check your reports. Historical analysis based on this account's data won't be available after disconnection.

  • Export if needed. Download transaction records before removing the account.

Reconnecting the account

You can reconnect at any time via Connect New Account on the Banking page. Frank will sync transactions from the reconnection date forward; data from before the disconnection cannot be recovered.

Summary

Go to Banking, open the three-dot menu on the account, and select Remove Account. All historical data for that account will be permanently deleted, so make sure you've exported anything you need first.
