Frank is your AI bookkeeper and will automatically analyze transactions for all of your connected accounts. However, there may be specific transaction types you want to update based on how you prefer to manage your finances. Teaching Frank how to manage your transactions is an easy, two-part process.
Teaching Frank
To get started, login to your hello, Frank account and navigate to the Transactions page using the navigation panel on the left of your screen.
Frank will pull up the most recent transactions from your accounts. Use the filters available to search for particular merchants and transaction types (income, expenses, transfers, etc).
Once you have identified a transaction you want to change, select any of the tags on the right-hand side to edit the transaction details. There are three key pieces of information you can adjust:
Transaction Type: Indicates the flow of the transaction - money coming in, money going out, or money moving between accounts.
Department: Indicates what part of your business the transaction is associated with - Sales, Marketing, Operations, Human Resources, etc.
Category: Provides an additional level of detail to understand what the transaction was for - e.g. Bank Fees and Interest, Vehicle and Gas, Rent and Facilities, Advertising, etc.
Once you have updated the transaction details, create a rule for Frank to follow by selecting the tick box below the transaction details and hitting the Create Rule button. Related transactions will then display a "Learning Mode" icon.
Confirming a Rule
If you are happy with the rule, click the "Learning Mode" icon and select "Confirm this rule". If you would like to adjust Frank's learning, select "Adjust my learning".
Once confirmed, all related transactions will be updated and Frank will automatically sort all future matching transactions based on the rule.
Summary
Teach Frank using this two-part process:
Create a rule - Choose the transaction type, department, and category for a transaction and create a rule for Frank to remember.
2. Confirm the rule - Find related transactions, select the "Learning Mode" icon, and confirm the rule.
The rule will now take effect on all related and future transactions.
